Guidelines for Submissions

Submissions will only be accepted during the reading period– Jan. 1 to April 25th & July 6th to October 25th. Any work postmarked in May, June, November and December will not be accepted. Winning Submissions will be notified via email.

 

Fiction

Short stories may be up to 25 pages. Manuscripts exceeding this amount will not be accepted. Stories must be double-spaced and numbered with name of the work appearing at the top of each page. In the body of your email, write author’s name, a valid address, title of work and number of pages . No racist, pornographic or otherwise offensive  material will be considered for publication.

 

Poetry

Up to 50 lines per poem, with no more than three poems per author. Only one poem will be selected for publication. Any style is acceptable. Please include in the body of your email,  author’s name, a valid address, title(s) or work and number of poems. Again, no racist, pornographic or otherwise offensive material will be considered for publication.

 

Essays

Essays are non-fiction works not to exceed 3,000 words. No more than two essays per author please. Only one essay will be selected for publication. Topics for essays will be posted in each issue in the Essays  page on the website. Include in body of email,  author’s name, a valid address and title(s) of essay(s).

 

Electronic submissions must attach a Word document to the email. The Red Rabbit is not responsible for lost emails. If a file is found to have a virus, it will automatically be deleted.

Please take the time to look over your work and correct spelling and grammatical mistakes. Any work submitted with numerous typographical and grammatical errors will not be accepted.

No simultaneous submissions will be accepted. No plagiarized materials. Any work found to be plagiarized will immediately be deleted from this site. All rights return to the author after publication. There are no reading fees.

The Red Rabbit is new and therefore does not have the funds to pay writers for their submissions.

Please do not email about your submissions. We will send a letter with a list of the winning entries. Please have patience in waiting for a response.
